Take me to the Water to Be Baptized
With the encouragement of their mother, Ms. Petrina Grooms, a member of the church, “Take Me to the Water to be Baptized” was the sentiment of four teenage brothers and sisters at the who were baptized at the New Life SDA in Palestine, Texas just a few months ago. Ms. Grooms and their grandmother were happy the children were baptized, especially because Ms. Grooms oldest daughter, Tamiya House, is a high school senior preparing to leave home to attend college. Her two brothers and sister were pleased to get baptized at the same place, same time and on the same day so they will be able to celebrate their newness of life as sisters and brothers not only biologically but also spiritually. They were brave souls who love Jesus enough to have been willing to take a stand through being immersed into the watery grave of baptism after Pastor Norman Stiggers read and they accepted their vows. Tamiya, Damontrey, Teyana and Brodrick, Jr. and now member of the New Life SDA Church.
Three generations were the first to be baptized as a direct result of the Holy Spirit’s leading after the conclusion of the Living Better, God’s Way Crusade at Bethel SDA Church in Corsicana, Texas. The mother, Mrs. Doris Hudson, her daughter who was expecting a baby, Chasity Hudson and her granddaughter, Saniyah Jernigan were determined to follow through on their commitment to the Lord to be baptized and expressed to several member they are convinced they made the right decision and solicit the prayers of the saints. In December, 2013, the Bethel Women had a baby shower for Chasity at the home of Elder Charles and Dr. Gloria Miller, coordinator of this event. Chasity Hudson was blessed with a healthy baby boy, Michael Dewayne Jernigan III, on January 16, 2014.
Mrs. Vivian Daniel Calhoun, her five children, Jamie Watkins, LaTorsha Daniel, LeAndre Watkins, the twins, Dondrell and Vondrell Watkins along with Minister Sharon Gray, were recently baptized at the Bethel SDA Church in Corsicana, Texas shortly after the conclusion of the Living Better God’s Way Evangelistic Crusade. Pastor Norman Stiggers was the Speaker/Evangelist, Pastor Morris McPherson served as the Associate Evangelist and Bible Worker, Elder Charles Miller served as the Assistant to the Assoc. Evangelist and Dr. Lorraine James-Stiggers presented the Health Spotlight each evening.
Mrs. Vivian Calhoun, her children and Minister Sharon Gray, consistently attended, listened, read scripture and took notes at the Living Better, God’s Way Revival. They were stirred about in their hearts about the many truths they discovered from the Word of God as Pastor Stiggers preached the Word, night after night. They prayerfully asked the Lord for direction, to strengthen their faith and help them to obey all of God’s Commandments. As they were led by the Holy Spirit to become baptized members of the Bethel SDA Church that decision was sealed Thursday evening, November 7, 2013. All of our newly baptized members enjoy studying the Word of God and received their certificates, along with several other members, for completing the Hope Bible Lessons. Pastor Stiggers invited Minister Sharon Gray to speak for Divine Worship Service in December, 2013. She gave a stirring message and appeal to be who we say we are, “Christians” true followers of Christ and why we should be about our Father’s Business.
