“Soul Ties”- 23rd Annual Labor Singles Ministry Retreat
Everyone was eager to enjoy the beautiful scenery at Lone Star Camp Ground and.
The retreat’s theme “Soul Ties” focused on helping singles to understand why it is best to be yoked up, wrapped up, tied up and tangled up in God.
Friday night started with an introduction of Kymberlee J. Colston, who led the weekend worship services with the retreat’s theme song “Break Every Chain”. The evening seminar was presented by Pastor Eric Louw from Richardson SDA Church titled “Harmful Life Cycles”.
Sabbath Services began with a seminar by Pastor Tyrone Douglas, the SWRGC Youth and Young Adult Director, who gave a heartfelt message “What Becomes of the Broken Hearted”. The day progressed with Pastor Darriel Hoy from Central States Conference, delivering the Divine hour message, “Why Me Lord?” After lunch we broke for a community outreach, where over 50 children received backpacks full of school supplies.
Later that evening we heard again from Pastor Darriel Hoy on “How to Avoid Falling in Love with a Jerk or Jerkette”, where she gave 3 examples of jerk, 1) The flirt 2) The silent type 3) The shoemaker with the shoeless family.
The evening ended with fun and games at the Decades Party, where singles dressed up in their favorite decade attire. Kirk Clarke was undoubtedly the best dressed, and he is still looking for his money.
Sunday held many highlights for the weekend. The morning seminar by Pastor Hoy, “Late in the Midnight Hour”, followed by water front activities and games, where Tammy Marks held the best performance on water!
The night was not complete without “Gym Night”, where were many played board games, dominoes, shot hoops and played the traditional volley ball tournament, all hosted by Cournei Williams from “501”.
In conclusion on Monday morning, Pastor Wayne Moten from Oklahoma spoke on the topic “The Blame Game” wrapping up the weekend with some final laughs, prayer and the song “Side by Side” we stand
