Annual Black History Program in Coushatta

20160227_170230This year on February 6, 2016, we again celebrated black history at the Coushatta First church, in Louisiana.

We made our invitation know to our community, family and friends by word of mouth, flyers and the new paper. The announcement was met with excitement because of past years and expectation for the program that would be this year. Each year our participant’s changes as we feature new people whenever possible. This year some of our newly baptized youth played a big part in presenting information about our notables from our past and present history, we never want to allow our history to fade away.  Our speaker for the evening was Elder Timothy Fuller a member of our sister church in Mansfield Louisiana. His sermon was short but powerful; he took us from our past struggles as a people and as christens, all the way to victory that ends with us in heaven. The audience was on their feet, praising God for the expected victory for all those who continue to the end. India Taylor one of our newer young people, showed us how she could only imagine what heaven would be like, though sign language and praise dance, it was so beautifully done. We were blessed to have two musical selections by our head Deacon, Eric Great, who some form the community was surprised to see singing. Our featured guest and musical group was “The New Beginning’s Praise Team” that came to us from the community. As we plan this program each year we remember our mission statement for our church that says in part, “To take every opportunity to reach out to our community with the life-changing gospel of the third angles message’s”, “Our vision is to lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ” As we reach out and invite others to come and fellowship with us, we are giving opportunity for them to hear more of what is required of them to be saved. As we pray for you, we ask that you pray for us that we here in Coushatta LA, continue fulfilling the great commission of Matt: 28: 19, 20. To God Be the Glory.

Thank You,

Ellareen Moore/Coushatta SDA/Communications
