Houston Women’s Ministries on the Move
Fondren SW SDA Church in Missouri City, TX, was host to Women’s Ministries Teach Convention 2013 on April 12-13. English and Hispanic women from Baytown, Austin, Dallas and Houston, came together for a weekend of refueling and refreshing in the Holy Spirit.
The convention opened up with a season of praise and worship led by the convention music coordinator, Tanisha Pride and singer, Margarita Barylchesnko, followed by a soul-stirring message from Elder Beverly Robinson from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Women were then dismissed to their first workshop session. On Sabbath morning, worship and workshop tracks continued consecutively, depending on your choice of language until everyone dined together at the lunch hour. The keynote speaker for both Spanish and English worship sessions, was Pastor Elizabeth Talbot, Jesus 101 Biblical Institute Speaker/Director. After the lunch fellowship, women attended a fourth workshop track of their choosing.
The workshop presenters included Dr. Estella Lain (Atlanta, GA), Dr. Susie Hill (Dallas, TX), Sis. Rose Carr (SWRC Women’s Ministries Director), Loida Mota (Dallas, TX) and Nancy Martinez (Monterrey, Nuevo Leon). The workshop sessions included: “The Bleeding Heart,” “The Challenge of Marriage,” “Es Mejor Creer” (“It’s Better to Believe”) and “I’m Single and Loving It.”
During the closing convocation, the church family and convention attendees were blessed by praise dancers, Danielle Montgomery, Daughters of Abraham and a monologue from Renee Hankins. Pastor Talbot who translated the message herself as she preached presented the closing message, “God With Us.” What an anointing God has placed on those who are faithful to serve Him. The convention closed with the congregation lifting their voices in singing “When We all Get to Heaven” in English and Spanish, with power and energy. The Women’s Ministries coordinators, Besaida Castro for the Hispanic sector and Cheryl Harris for the English sector, give all the glory, honor and praise to the King for the great things He has done.
