Evangelism in Little Rock
As part of the Impact Ark-LA for Christ evangelistic outreach, Shiloh SDA church in Little Rock, Arkansas was home for a wonderful His Way of Hope Bible Prophecy Seminar from September 20th – October 11th.
Pastor Buford Griffith, Jr., executive secretary and family ministries director from the Southwestern Union shared the word of God in a clear, powerful, passionate, and life changing manner night after night. A great number of the church members attended the series and they did not come alone. Almost everyone brought someone to at least one meeting. Many invited and brought their friend and relatives to several meetings.
Pastor Griffith came to the church a few weeks before the meetings and heartwarmingly inspired the church into action. Church members worked faithfully as a part of the 15 committees set up for the series. The committees included the prayer, correspondence, security, telephone, bible worker, financial, bring-a-guest, music, youth enrichment, nursery, ushers, hosts, advertisement, transportation, and medical/health committees. There were at least 16 church members on the bible working committee or team. The crusade may be over but that team continues to work with various crusade visitors who have started and are excited about completing their bible studies.
“…He that watereth shall be watered also himself.” Many church members were blessed and refreshed by the preaching of God’s word, felt the joy and peace that comes from serving God, and experienced spiritual growth.
It was evident that the Holy Spirit was at work from the first day until the last. The first Sabbath morning, a lady came to church and said she couldn’t wait for the first night’s meeting. After hearing the announcement on the radio, she was so elated that she had to come right away to the worship service to reconnect with the church she had attended years ago. Family members, co-workers, missing members, and community neighbors responded to the invitation to come out via word-of-mouth, radio, and handbills. There were some visitors who had almost perfect attendance missing only one or two nights of the 16 night series. Twelve people were baptized on the last day of the series, October 11th. The whole church praised God and fellowshipped together on that special Sabbath day with over 180 people in attendance.
Not only were the church members, who attended, revived but many who came from the community learned more and are continuing to learn more about bible truths, prophecy, the health message and Seventh-day Adventists. There was a 24 hour prayer committee which had someone constantly praying for the meetings, a different person every hour. Several of those team members are continuing their prayer vigil. Won’t you join them as they pray for more fruit for God’s kingdom from seeds planted this crusade, the newly baptized members, the church, the community, and the times in which we live?
