Fundamentals of Christian Education
Christian Education not only refers to the educating of students on the knowledge of God but also that the application of the gifts that God has given us is the sole way of a complete education. Through the biblical foundations discussed and the methods of critical thinking taught, we come to the conclusion on many things pertaining to a child’s education and the path they have chosen in and for their life. But most importantly, education and wisdom are gained through the dedication and discipline of choosing God every day of our lives. Choosing to have discipline in all things brings freedom in all things, which combined with proper instruction, guidance, and education exemplifies how Christ intends for us to live. Our teachers of the Southwest Region Conference are committed to instilling Christ-like attributes into each student and to the excellence of a quality Christian Education. Our teachers are unapologetic and intentional in introducing and teaching who Christ is and His desire to be their friend, Savior, and God. Here in the Southwest Region Education Department, we commit ourselves to the excellence of our staff and to the enhancement of students in all of our schools.
Christ-Centered, Excellence Focused, Service Oriented
We believe our students are reachable, teachable, loveable, and saveable.
It’s been an exciting, yet challenging school year as we try to navigate through virtual learning and face-to-face instruction. The schools that are continuing virtual learning are: Bethel Adventist School, Excel Adventist Academy for grades K – 8, Shiloh Excel Christian School, and Southwest Adventist Jr. Academy for grades K – 8. Schools that offer face-to-face instruction are Applegate Adventist Christian School, Excel Adventist Academy Preschool, Emmanuel Adventist School, Martin Luther King, Jr. Christian Academy, New Orleans Adventist Academy, and Southwest Adventist Jr. Academy Preschool. All schools that are instructing face-to-face are constantly and consistently practicing the necessary COVID-19 safety protocols and as a result, there have been no issues with any positive COVID cases.
Our students in our Louisiana schools are getting prepared for the LEAP test, which will take place in the month of April. We ask for your prayers as they get prepared to knock that test out of the park. Go get ‘em students!!!
Our Texas schools and our school in Arkansas will be getting prepared to take their last MAP Assessment in April and from their previous test in January, there is a lot of confidence that our students will once again perform with excellence.
Schools will soon be on a well-deserved Spring Break and then come back to finish the year strong.
Conference-wide, we have seventeen (17) 8th graders which will be graduating from our schools and transitioning into high school. In the month of May, we will highlight the students who are graduating.
We continue to ask for your prayers for our teachers, students and families as we continue to navigate through this pandemic. We thank you for all of your support for our schools and as we prepare to close out this school year, we pray that the Lord will continue to bless, protect and help our students to continue to learn about Jesus and the many blessings the He can give to them.
